Sir Ian Botham has taken his seat within the Home of Lords.
The Brexit-backing former England cricketer wore the standard scarlet and ermine-trimmed gown for the temporary formal introduction ceremony.
Baron Botham, of Ravensworth within the county of North Yorkshire was nominated for a life peerage within the 2020 Political Honours and can sit as a cross bencher.
The proceedings had been delayed because of a technical downside, prompting groans from friends when Lord Speaker Lord Fowler informed them: “I feel rain has stopped play only for the second.”
