UK general election latest: Swinney launches SNP campaign with attacks on Tories and Labour – BBC News

    BreakingBreaking news

    Summary

    1. Scottish First Minister John Swinney has launched the SNP’s general election campaign at a rally in Glasgow
    2. As well as pushing for independence and celebrating his party’s record on fighting the cost of living, he attacks both the Tories and Labour
    3. People in Scotland want rid of a “disastrous” Tory government, he says, accusing Labour of “giving an awfully good impression” of them
    4. Earlier, Health Secretary Victoria Atkins and shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper spoke to the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg
    5. On Labour’s promise to cut net migration, Cooper said it would be a “significant” drop but wouldn’t set a target when pressed
    6. Atkins said the Tories’ pledge to build 100 new GP surgeries would bring “healthcare closer to communities” – and defended the party’s record on NHS wait times
    7. Adrian Ramsay, co-leader of the Green Party, told Kuenssberg his party hopes to win seats in Bristol Central, Waveney Valley, North Herefordshire and Brighton Pavilion
