Microsoft’s decentralized identification community ION, first introduced in Could is transferring to beta testing on the Bitcoin community.

In a June 10 weblog put up, Daniel Buchner, a program supervisor for the Microsoft Id group, stated the open-sourced, layer 2 Id Overlay Community (ION) had launched. The goal is to offer customers with a decentralized identifier (DID) that might change the necessity for usernames.

Developed together with the Decentralized Id Basis, ION was developed as a decentralized community to function independently and doesn’t depend on “particular utility tokens, trusted validator nodes, or further consensus mechanisms”.

“The core promise of DID know-how is to empower all people and entities with possession and management over their identities, which aligns effectively with our mission of empowering each particular person to work, play, and obtain extra,” stated Buchner. “To ship on that promise, we now have chosen a special path from among the extra centralized approaches to DID applied sciences—and we imagine ION exemplifies that alternative.”

Microsoft has not but set a launch date for the ultimate model, however stated it could be engaged on hardening the protocol and bettering the ION reference implementation over the approaching months.

Microsoft continues its blockchain streak

Cointelegraph reported in Could that the tech big had introduced its model new Azure Blockchain Service together with Azure Blockchain Growth Equipment for the Ethereum blockchain.

It’s not the one firm seeing the potential of DID know-how. ConsenSys is using the blockchain agnostic protocol Ethr-DID for its personal DID, in distinction to Microsoft’s SideTree.
