The iShares Global Materials ETF is seeing unusually high volume in afternoon trading Tuesday, with over 1.2 million shares traded versus three month average volume of about 48,000. Shares of MXI were up about 0.3% on the day.
Components of that ETF with the highest volume on Tuesday were Vale, trading down about 2.2% with over 11.1 million shares changing hands so far this session, and Freeport-mcmoran, up about 0.8% on volume of over 7.9 million shares. Southern Copper is the component faring the best Tuesday, higher by about 1.5% on the day.
