China’s forex reserves rise to US$3.24 trillion

China’s foreign exchange reserves rose 0.43 percent in March to US$3.24 trillion (HK$25.27 trillion), according to data released by the People’s Bank of China.

The country’s reserves have remained above the US$3.2 trillion mark for 16 consecutive months. 

China’s gold reserves also rose for a fifth straight month in March, reaching 73.7 million ounces, up by 90,000 ounces from February. The value of the holdings climbed 10 percent on-month to US$229.5 billion.
