The 2022 Winter Olympics should not be held in China, Sen. Rick Scott stated Tuesday, referring to the latest standoff between Beijing and the NBA in addition to the Chinese language regime’s human-rights violations.
“We should not be doing the 2022 Olympics there,” the Florida Republican informed CNBC’s “Squawk Field.” The video games are set to happen in February 2022 in Beijing and its neighboring cities.
Scott was referring to the tensions between the NBA and Beijing, which had been set off when the Houston Rockets Basic Supervisor Daryl Morey confirmed help for anti-government protests in Hong Kong in a now-deleted tweet. The tweet triggered swift backlash in China, regardless of being shortly deleted and apologized for by Morey.
