Days after a helicopter crash killed retired NBA celebrity Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven other people, Rep. Brad Sherman, D-California, launched laws that might strengthen federal security requirements for the plane.
The Kobe Bryant and Gianna Bryant Helicopter Security Act would direct the Federal Aviation Administration and the Nationwide Transportation Security Board to undertake new helicopter security requirements, and particularly require helicopters to be geared up with a Terrain Consciousness and Warning System, based on a press release sent Friday.
The system is a security internet that gives a warning to pilots when their plane is just too near the bottom.
The helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant and his celebration, which was traveling in foggy conditions, lacked the warning system when it crashed on January 26.
The Sherman invoice will even arrange a fee for helicopter security, which is able to make a report back to Congress and make suggestions on low-visibility flights.
The NTSB took up the Terrain Consciousness and Warning System subject in 2004, based on the discharge, recommending to the FAA that every one helicopters have the system. The…
