Grossman, who’s been ranked amongst Forbes’ 100 strongest ladies in a number of years, was on a very completely different trajectory as she neared her commencement from George Washington College within the mid-1970s.
From the time she was 5 years outdated, attending her personal formal adoption proceedings, she had wished to turn out to be a lawyer. At 14, she started courting the boy who would turn out to be her fiancé when she turned 19. So, as she neared the top of school in Washington, D.C., she was headed towards regulation faculty and marriage.
“I awakened one morning and had an epiphany, however I am certain it wasn’t actually that one morning. It had been on my thoughts,” she instructed CNBC’s “The Brave Ones.”
“However that one morning I awakened and mentioned, ‘I can not do that. I’ve to vary the course of my life. And if I do not — and I proceed down this path, it is gonna be very arduous to take it again later’. And with that, I known as my dad and mom and I mentioned, ‘I’ve one thing to let you know. I am breaking my engagement. I am not getting married. And I’ve determined — I do not need to go to regulation faculty within the fall, and I am leaving faculty proper now. I am transferring to New York Metropolis, and I’ll determine it out.’ And there was silence on the opposite finish of the telephone.”
