The EU has begun authorized proceedings in opposition to the UK over its plans to override sections of the Brexit divorce deal it signed in January.

It comes after an EU request for the federal government to take away controversial sections of the Inner Market Invoice handed on Wednesday.

The “letter of formal discover” may result in a court docket case in opposition to the federal government on the EU’s high court docket.

It comes as commerce talks between the 2 proceed in Brussels.

European Fee President Ursula von der Leyen stated the UK would have a month to answer the EU’s issues over the draft laws.

She added that the invoice was a “full contradiction” of earlier UK commitments over how a tough border on the island of Eire must be prevented.
