Emily Thornberry has been eradicated from the Labour management race after failing to safe sufficient nominations.

The shadow international secretary didn’t achieve sufficient nominations from native branches to make it on to the members’ poll starting subsequent week.

It leaves Sir Keir Starmer, Rebecca Lengthy-Bailey and Lisa Nandy within the working for the highest job.

All three had already certified with the assist of unions and affiliate teams.

Beneath celebration guidelines, candidates needed to safe assist from three unions or associates representing 5% of the membership, or 33 constituency Labour events (CLPs).

Labour members will start voting on the remaining candidates from Monday 24 February. Voting closes on 2 April, with the outcome introduced two days later.
