Labour MP quits frontbench submit citing ‘media marketing campaign’

Labour MP Lloyd Russell-Moyle has stepped down from his function as a shadow atmosphere minister, blaming a “marketing campaign by the right-wing media”.

The Kemptown and Peacehaven MP mentioned this had “unleashed a torrent of on-line hate” and each day abusive calls to his workers.

He mentioned he would wish “a couple of weeks” to get better from stress and assist his workforce.

He added that he meant to remain on as an MP.

He mentioned he had knowledgeable Labour chief Sir Keir Starmer of his determination to stop his submit after talking to him on the telephone on Thursday.

In a press release on Twitter, he mentioned he mentioned he had made the choice “with remorse”, including media assaults had made it “untenable” for him to remain on.

“It’s my job to get political flak, however it isn’t the job of caseworkers, researchers and assistants to be attacked,” he added.
