Teesside MP Simon Clarke has resigned from the federal government for private causes.

In his letter to Boris Johnson, the Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP talked about “balancing my very own life towards the calls for of workplace”.

He was appointed to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Native Authorities in February after shifting from the Treasury.

Mr Clarke will proceed as an MP and says he hopes to return sooner or later.

Writing to the Prime Minister, he mentioned: “I’d not have made this resolution until I believed it was of the utmost significance.”

He added: “It has been a privilege to function a minister in your administration.”

As minister for regional development and native authorities, his tasks included the native authority resilience discussion board’s Covid-19 response and devolution.

BBC Look North political correspondent Luke Walton mentioned: “This can be a vital announcement and can come as a shock to supporters and opponents alike.

“Simon Clarke was broadly seen as a Authorities excessive flyer, in a key job.”
