Simon Case confirmed as UK’s prime civil servant

Simon Case will take over because the UK’s prime civil servant subsequent week after being appointed by Boris Johnson.

Stories surfaced over the weekend that the previous non-public secretary to the Duke of Cambridge was set for the job.

Nevertheless it was confirmed on Tuesday, with the PM saying Mr Case was “ideally suited to this significant position”.

It comes after Sir Mark Sedwill introduced in June he would stand down following experiences of tensions between him and members of the PM’s workforce.
