Police have declared the stabbing assault in Studying through which three individuals died a “terrorist incident”.

A 25-year-old man from Studying was arrested on the scene of the assault at about 19:00 BST on Saturday, which additionally left three individuals severely injured.

Counter-terrorism police at the moment are taking up the investigation, Thames Valley Police stated.

Safety sources advised the BBC the person arrested is considered Libyan.

In an announcement, Thames Valley Police stated the assault had been declared a terror incident by Deputy Assistant Commissioner Dean Haydon, senior nationwide co-ordinator for the Counter Terrorism Policing community.

Chief Constable John Campbell stated it was a “really tragic incident”.

An eyewitness to the assault at Forbury Gardens, a park close to the centre of Studying, stated he noticed a person shifting between teams of individuals within the park, making an attempt to stab them.
