Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has announced that she is resigning after more than eight years as head of the Scottish government.
The Scottish National Party leader made the announcement at a hastily arranged news conference in Edinburgh, telling journalists she had been “wrestling” with the question of her future for some weeks.
