The federal government has no say on BBC choices about programming, staffing, or administering the licence price, says the minister for media and information has stated.
John Whittingdale was responding to Lib Dem MP Rose Cooper asking about cuts introduced by the broadcaster, and plans to cost most over-75s for his or her licence price.
He stated the BBC should present providers for “all of Britain” and “not simply views of the metropolitan bubbles of London and Manchester”.
