Former Republican Sen. David Perdue is not going to run for Senate in 2022, he mentioned in a press release Tuesday, ruling out one other marketing campaign in Georgia lower than two months after shedding a runoff election for a second time period.
The choice comes only a week after Perdue filed a press release of candidacy with the Federal Election Fee and mentioned publicly that he was contemplating one other marketing campaign in 2022. Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock, who gained a particular election in opposition to former GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler in January, is on the poll once more subsequent 12 months for a full time period.
“It is a private choice, not a political one,” Perdue mentioned within the assertion asserting that he wouldn’t run. “I’m assured that whoever wins the Republican main subsequent 12 months will defeat the Democrat candidate within the Basic election for this seat, and I’ll do all the pieces I can to make that occur.”
