SOFIA, Jan 3 (Reuters) – Bulgarian veterinary authorities stated on Friday they might cull 24,000 pigs after detecting an outbreak of African swine fever at a pig farm within the northeast of the nation.
The outbreak is the primary at an industrial farm since August when the virus hit six breeding farms within the Balkan nation, forcing the vet authorities to cull over 130,000 pigs.
The outbreak was detected at a farm within the village of Nikola Kozlevo within the area of Shumen, the meals security company stated. The extremely contagious illness impacts pigs however not people.
