SALAR DE AGUILAR, Chile, Nov 28 (Reuters) – Chile has requested high lithium miner SQM to determine by yr’s finish what it’s going to do with its holdings within the Maricunga salt flat, the nation’s second richest in lithium, Chile’s mining minister informed Reuters.
Although Maricunga’s 90 sq. miles (145 sq. km) make it lower than 5 p.c the scale of the lithium-rich Salar de Atacama in northern Chile, high-grade deposits of the ultralight battery steel nonetheless make it engaging to a number of potential miners.
However fractured possession has slowed improvement.
“We have now requested SQM, which has holdings on the flat, to take part in a piece group to find out what it’s going to do with them,” Mining Minister Baldo Prokurica informed Reuters on a visit to the Salar de Aguilar salt flat within the arid north of Chile.
Prokurica stated he had requested SQM to reply by “yr’s finish.”
