China’s COMAC finalises C919 design, regulator to supervise ultimate flight exams

BEIJING/SYDNEY, Nov 27 (Reuters)Business Plane Corp of China (COMAC) has largely finalised the design of its C919 narrowbody jet, paving the best way for China’s aviation regulator to supervise ultimate flight testing, the producer stated on Friday.

Designed to compete instantly with the Airbus SE AIR.PA A320 and the Boeing Co BA.N 737 households available in the market for jets with round 150 seats, the C919 is the speartip of China’s efforts to interrupt a strong decades-old Western duopoly.

COMAC stated the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) has issued the C919’s Kind Inspection Authorisation, which means there might not be main changes to the plane construction.

The producer has stated it expects to acquire an airworthiness certificates for the C919 from China’s aviation regulator subsequent yr, which might enable it to start delivering the jet to home airways.

China, the primary nation to floor Boeing’s 737 MAX following two deadly crashes, has not set a timetable for the U.S.-made jet’s return to service, the top of its aviation regulator stated final month.

America lifted its 737 MAX flight ban final week, easing a security disaster that left its high exporter with a tarnished popularity and a whole bunch of idle jets.
