CAIRO, Aug 26 (Reuters) – Egypt has reached 89% self-sufficiency in sugar following elevated planting of cane and beet and has strategic reserves to final till the following season, the availability ministry mentioned on Thursday.
Egypt’s sugar beet season runs from February to June.
The ministry additionally confirmed that imports of white and uncooked sugar had been attainable since June after a rolling ban on imports expired. Egypt is in search of 200,000 tonnes of uncooked sugar in a young.
