Nov 27 (Reuters) – Finnish Forest Industries Federation mentioned on Wednesday it might maintain a 6-day lock-out from Dec. 12, closing half of the Nordic nation’s sawmills and plywood factories, aiming to place strain on unions in halted pay negotiations.
The unions have introduced a 3 day strike for Dec. 9-11.
“The employees have probably not agreed to barter concerning the pay deal, however calls for with the strike solely shorter working hours,” the federation mentioned in an announcement.
The lockout shall be carried out on 32 websites of Metsä Group, Stora Enso STERV.HE and UPM UPM.HE amongst others which produce about half of the sector’s 3.2 billion euro ($3.5 billion) annual income, the federation mentioned.
