ATHENS, April 12 (Reuters) – Grecian Air Seaplanes stated on Monday it’s going to launch seaplane flights in September, connecting islands to the mainland after the primary seaports had been licenced to function after years of bureaucratic delays.
The corporate stated it plans to start out flights with three 19-seater seaplanes from seaports on the Ionian Sea in western Greece and step by step develop its fleet of plane.
With its polynesian geography and a 16,000 kilometre shoreline, Greece is a perfect place for seaplane service. Operators can enhance entry to many vacation resorts and poorly linked islands, a possible increase to its tourism trade.
Grecian Air Seaplanes stated its flights will fill a void, serving to to attach islands to at least one one other and to the mainland by air. Its marketing strategy requires a combined fleet of owned and leased plane as the price of a seaplane is about $7 million.
The corporate stated it plans to develop the enterprise as extra seaports get licenced within the Cyclades, in Crete, the Sporades and Dodecannese islands and others within the northern Aegean Sea.
Grecian Air Seaplanes stated its shareholders embrace the chairman of Greek Water Airports, an organization that specialises within the design, development and licencing of waterdromes, and AXIONAIR.
Seaplanes can complement different technique of transport, together with ferries and airline jets, and also can supply chartered flights, medical transport and cargo providers.
