Kazakhstan president says too early to set export responsibility on grain

ALMATY, Sept 7 (Reuters)Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated on Tuesday it was untimely to impose export duties on grain because the nation prepares for a extra modest harvest this 12 months as a consequence of drought.

“The federal government is elevating the difficulty of introducing an export responsibility on grain sooner or later,” Tokayev stated in a press release on his web site. “Given the present scenario, I feel it’s untimely to take action.”

Central Asia’s prime grain producer expects its 2021 grain crop to fall by 24% to 15.three million tonnes after drought hit its fundamental rising areas.

Kazakhstan banned exports of rye and restricted exports of barley and wheat used for animal feed for six months from Aug. 15.
