METALS-London copper falls as Fed minutes boosts greenback


July 8 (Reuters)Copper costs in London fell on Thursday, as a stronger greenback buoyed by the U.S. Federal Reserve’s minutes reaffirming tapering timeline made greenback-priced metals dearer to holders of different currencies.

The greenback traded close to its highest in three months versus main friends after minutes of the Fed’s June coverage assembly confirmed the world’s largest central financial institution is shifting towards tapering its asset purchases as quickly as this yr.

Three-month copper on the London Steel Alternate CMCU3 declined 0.7% to $9,393 a tonne by 0238 GMT, whereas the most-traded August copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Alternate SCFcv1 edged up 0.1% to 68,760 yuan ($10,609.80) a tonne.

FUNDAMENTALS

* LME aluminium CMAL3 fell 0.7% to $2,482 a tonne, nickel CMNI3 declined 0.5% to $18,225 a tonne and zinc CMZN3 dropped 0.7% to $2,937 a tonne.

* ShFE aluminium SAFcv1 was down 0.7% to 18,755 yuan a tonne, whereas nickel SNIcv1 rose 0.6% to 135,740 yuan a tonne and lead SPBcv1 superior 0.4% to 15,860 yuan a tonne.
