Southwest employees group seeks mediation for stalled contract talks

CHICAGO, Feb 14 (Reuters)The union representing Southwest Airways Co’s LUV.N passenger service and reservation staff stated on Friday it was looking for federal mediation to assist contract negotiations after two years of talks.

Final 12 months budget-friendly Southwest reached a contract settlement with a separate union representing its mechanics after seven years of talks fraught with authorized disputes and flight disruptions.

Now the Worldwide Affiliation of Machinists and Aerospace Employees (IAM), representing 7,852 Southwest employees, stated it has invoked its proper to mediation with the Nationwide Mediation Board.
