Dec 3 (Reuters) – Southwest Airways Co LUV.N stated on Thursday it had issued notices to 6,828 staff warning them that they could possibly be furloughed, amid a hunch in demand for air journey because of the coronavirus disaster.
The involuntary furloughs will occur on March 15 or April 1, until Southwest reaches cost-saving agreements or the federal government enacts a passable Payroll Assist Program extension.
Bloomberg Information had reported the layoff notices earlier on Thursday.
