CHICAGO, Might 10 (Reuters) – The U.S. Division of Agriculture (USDA) stated U.S. farmers had planted 67% of their supposed corn acres as of Sunday, matching the common estimate in a Reuters analyst ballot.
In a report launched on Monday, the USDA stated corn planting progress was up from 46% every week earlier and properly forward of the five-year common of 52%.
Pre-report commerce estimates from 10 analysts surveyed by Reuters for the week ended Sunday ranged from 62% to 71%.
Soybean planting was 42% full by Sunday, the USDA stated, up from 24% every week earlier. The determine was forward of the common analyst estimate of 40% and the five-year common of 22%.
“With cooler and drier circumstances for a lot of final week, farmers made important planting progress and are forward of schedule this 12 months,” Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig stated in an announcement. Iowa is the most important U.S. corn-producing state and the No. 2 soybean state.
The USDA rated 49% of the U.S. winter wheat crop in good-to-excellent situation, up 1 share level from the earlier week, whereas analysts on common had anticipated no change.
For spring wheat, the USDA stated the crop was 70% planted, forward of each the common commerce estimate of 69% and the five-year common of 51%.
