GENEVA, Jan 19 (Reuters) – The US mentioned on Tuesday that member states should lead efforts to reform the World Well being Group (WHO), together with any resolution to offer further funding to the U.N. company.
“It’s our obligation to offer the WHO and the broader worldwide system with the instruments to do its work successfully, effectively, independently and transparently,” Garrett Grigsby of the U.S. Division of Well being and Human Providers who headds the U.S. delegation, advised the WHO’s Government Board in Geneva.
“We should rise to this event at the same time as we fight the pandemic and ressurect our economies,” he mentioned, talking by videoconference from Washington.
Britain’s envoy, talking on behalf of the Group of Seven rich nations, mentioned that any WHO reforms have to be “formidable and grounded in sturdy proof”.
