It is reportedly the third incident the Solana network has suffered in the last few months

The Solana blockchain was reportedly down for a few hours overnight – although holders and users of the crypto platform have debated whether or not it was at the receiving end of another attack.

The scale of the incident is not fully known, though user reported transactions on the network were either very slow or failing during the period.

Solana Labs co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko denied that there has been any distributed denial of service attack (DDoS) attack.

He said the network issues were instead just the “pain of getting a new runtime commercialized”.

Solana, the third most valuable cryptocurrency, was the victim of a DDoS attack less than a month ago, with the network clogged up as the launch of a cryptocurrency on Radium, a Solana-based decentralised platform, led to it being overrun with bots.

Last night’s outage was the third incident for Solana in the last few months regarding the network, which has coincided with a sharp fall in price.

Its token, SOL, was trading as high as £193.26 at the start of November, with the price currently languishing at £124.07 at the time of publication.
