Chicago’s drill scene — and the town’s ongoing points with violence — are one of many speaking factors in an episode this week of the FX six-part docuseries “Hip Hop Uncovered.”

The Friday evening collection, which premiered earlier this month, offers context behind hip-hop’s main storylines by the eyes of the style’s lesser-known movers and shakers — Eugene “Massive U” Henley, Haitian Jack, and Debra “Deb” Antney, amongst others — with the overarching theme of how avenue life continues to have an affect on hip-hop.

Malcolm Spellman, who produced the Chicago-shot Fox collection “Empire” for 3 seasons, is a member of the collection’ government manufacturing staff who can also be interviewed on the present.

Drill is a subgenre of Chicago hip-hop recognized for darkish and violent lyrics. The music has been tied to threats and even murders that performed out on social media.
