The death toll has increased to 5,30,979 with 14 deaths. While four deaths each were reported from Delhi and Himachal Pradesh, one each was reported from Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra and Rajasthan and two reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 6.91 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was pegged at 3.67 per cent.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh reported 319 new Covid cases, highest single-day spike of this year, taking the number of active cases to 1,192, also the highest this year.
The rise in daily Covid-19 cases and a death in the past one week have come as an alarm bell which needs to be taken seriously, said experts while appealing to the people not to ignore safety protocols in the coming days.

Bangladesh’s forex reserves fall to around 6-year low

- Elon Musk has sparked a row with the BBC after labelling the broadcaster as a “government-funded media” organisation, however, Britain’s national broadcaster was quick to push back against the categorization, reported CNN.
- The label now appears on outlets that receive some government funding, including BBC, PBS, NPR and Voice of America.
- However, it does not appear on other government-backed outlets, such as Canada’s CBC or Qatar’s Al Jazeera.
