Donald Trump set to meet Coinbase chief 

President-elect Donald Trump and Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong will meet privately to discuss important hiring decisions. According to the Wall Street Journal,  the meeting is facilitated by Trump’s transition team.  

 

Trump has shown a strong desire to include crypto-friendly individuals in his administration, including Robert F. Kennedy as Health and Human Services Secretary, and Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk as the heads of a proposed Department of Government Efficiency  

Armstrong Political Stance 

Armstrong has been outspoken in support of pro-crypto candidates for Trump’s cabinet, including SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce’s recent appointment as the agency’s head. Coinbase’s financial commitments during the recently concluded election cycle are consistent with his public statements.  

Coinbase  has donated over $100 million has been donated by to political action committees with $40 million going to Fairshake. Armstrong did not directly fund Trump’s campaign but expressed strong support for several of the president-elect’s policy proposal. 

 Some have interpreted this position as the crypto executive’s readiness to cooperate with the new administration. Trump’s potential candidates for Treasury and the SEC are highly intriguing, especially considering his election pledges to the cryptocurrency community, whose financial clout helped supply Congress with allies.  

 Armstrong’s exact role in the incoming administration is still unknown, there is conjecture that he might have been enlisted to assist in selecting the list of applicants for the coveted job, which currently reportedly includes investor Scott Bessent, economic policy advisor Kevin Warsh, Tennessee Senator Bill Haggerty, and Marc Rowan, CEO of Apollo Global Management. 

It might influence choices about important positions that affect the cryptocurrency sector, such as the Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) chair and Treasury Secretary.  

Trump’s potential candidates for Treasury and the SEC are highly intriguing, especially considering his election pledges to the cryptocurrency community, whose financial clout helped supply Congress with allies.
