The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service or FSIS has issued a public health alert for Nurture Life, Inc.’s Kids Chicken Parm with Super Veggie Spaghetti meal products citing misbranding and undeclared egg, a known allergen.

The product’s spaghetti component contains egg white, which is not declared on the product label. The affected product is no longer available for purchase, due to which, a recall was not requested.

The health alert has been given to 5.9-oz. tray with sleeve label containing “nurture life KIDS MEALS CHICKEN PARM WITH SUPER VEGGIE SPAGHETTI” with “enjoy by” dates ranging from January 9 to March 1, 2024.

The fully cooked, not shelf-stable chicken meals were produced between December 27, 2023, and February 20, 2024.

The chicken meal packaging does not have a USDA mark of inspection, and the products were sold online and shipped directly to consumers nationwide.

The alert was given after the agency was notified by the firm, which discovered during an internal audit that egg was not declared on the label.

However, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of the impacted products to date.

Over concerns that some product may be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers, FSIS urged them not to consume and to throw away or return them to the place of purchase.

In similar developments, the agency in early February warned against SK Food Group’s ready-to-eat or RTE poultry burrito products that contained recalled dairy products from Rizo-Lopez Foods.

FSIS also issued a public health alert against Trader Joe’s frozen RTE chicken pilaf product as they may be contaminated with foreign material, specifically rocks.
