Virginia-based IKEA US Retail LLC is recalling USB Chargers citing burn and electric shock hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
About 22,600 units of IKEA ÅSKSTORM 40W USB Chargers were sold in the United States, and about 10,250 units were sold in Canada.
The impacted product, with model number ICPSW5-40-1, consists of a charger and a detachable power cord with a C7 connector and a plug.

The products were manufactured in China and imported by Switzerland’s IKEA Supply AG. They were sold at IKEA stores nationwide and online at IKEA.com from April 2020 through December 2023 for about $30.
According to the agency, the USB charger’s cable can become damaged or break over time. This could cause burn and electric shock to the users.
The recall was initiated after IKEA received 17 incident reports globally, including five reports of burns and four reports of electric shock. Meanwhile, no incidents or injuries have been reported in the U.S.
Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled chargers and contact IKEA for a full refund.
In similar recalls, Irvine, California-based Dynabook Americas Inc. earlier this week called back about 16.8 million Toshiba laptop AC adapters citing burn and fire hazards.
China’s CableMod Ltd. in early February called back around 25,300 units of Graphics Processing Unit or GPU V1.0 and V1.1 angled adapters for the same concern.
Santa Monica, California-based Snap LLC. earlier this month recalled about 71,000 Lithium-ion battery sold for Pixy Flying Cameras as they can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
