NVIDIA NVDA stock is rebounding as its expanded Equinix partnership strengthens its position in AI inference, although margin pressure and elevated expectations remain key risks.
NVIDIA and Equinix Expand Partnership
NVIDIA and digital infrastructure company Equinix have expanded their partnership to focus on AI inference, the process of running trained models to generate responses and predictions.
The companies announced Equinix Inference Exchange, a distributed AI inference program designed to help global enterprises move from AI experimentation toward production.
The platform combines NVIDIA’s Enterprise Reference Architectures with Together AI’s inference technology and Equinix’s global data-center and networking infrastructure. Through Equinix Fabric, customers can also connect with clouds, networks and AI providers.
The announcement helped Equinix shares rise around 2%, while NVDA stock climbed above $226 as investors assessed the potential for inference to become another major source of AI-related demand.
NVIDIA Stock Rebounds 5% as Inference Partnership Boosts Outlook
NVIDIA stock is rebounding 5% following its post-earnings volatility, climbing above $226 as the chipmaker expands its partnership with Equinix and targets the next phase of AI infrastructure spending.
Q2 Earnings Remain Exceptionally Strong
NVIDIA’s latest earnings remain a major support for the stock.
For fiscal Q2 FY2027, revenue reached approximately $96.2 billion, up 106% year-over-year, while adjusted earnings per share increased 120% to approximately $2.22. Both figures exceeded Wall Street expectations.
The results initially triggered a powerful rally as investors viewed the numbers as evidence that AI infrastructure spending remains exceptionally strong.
However, the post-earnings reaction has become more volatile as investors take profits and question whether NVIDIA can continue delivering growth at its current pace.
Rising Costs Could Pressure Margins
One concern is NVIDIA’s expected margin trajectory.
The company has indicated that gross margins could decline toward roughly 71%–72% in Q4 FY2027, partly because of higher memory costs.
While those margins remain extremely strong, the direction could become increasingly important as investors demand continued earnings growth.
Higher component costs, supply constraints and aggressive investment across the AI ecosystem could make it more difficult for NVIDIA to preserve its profitability at elevated levels.
Hugging Face Deal Raises Spending Questions
NVIDIA’s reported agreement to acquire AI model platform Hugging Face for approximately $12.9 billion has also raised questions about capital allocation.
The transaction could strengthen NVIDIA’s software ecosystem and complement its dominant chip business, but investors are increasingly examining whether the company is spending too aggressively to maintain its leadership.
Hawkish Fed Adds Pressure
The broader market environment could also weigh on NVDA stock. Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh has maintained a hawkish stance on inflation, contributing to higher Treasury yields.
Higher yields can pressure high-valuation technology stocks by increasing the discount rate applied to future earnings.
For NVIDIA, the strong inference opportunity provides another potential growth catalyst, but elevated expectations mean the stock could remain highly sensitive to margins, spending and monetary policy.
