Syrian Central Bank extends currency exchange deadline to Aug. 6 -ANHA

In a statement issued today, the bank said the exchange service remains available free of charge through all public and private banks, as well as branches of the Syrian Postal Corporation across the country, with no commissions, fees, or taxes.

The bank added that once the extended deadline expires, holders of old banknotes will still be able to exchange them for five years, but only through the Central Bank’s headquarters in Damascus after booking an appointment via the designated online platform.

According to the Central Bank, more than 80% of the old currency in circulation has already been exchanged, with over SYP 33.6 trillion replaced out of a total monetary base of SYP 42 trillion.
