Kaiser Permanente’s chief government and chairman, Bernard J. Tyson, died in his sleep early Sunday at age 60, the California-based firm confirmed.
Tyson succeeded George Halvorson as chief government in 2013 and had led the well being care company for the final six years. Tyson was the corporate’s first black chief government because it was based in 1945.
His reason for dying is unclear.
In its assertion, Kaiser Permanente described Tyson as an “excellent chief, visionary and champion for high-quality, inexpensive well being care.”
