United Airlines on Tuesday introduced an order for 50 long-range Airbus jets, handing one other victory from a U.S. airline to Boeing‘s European rival.

The Chicago-based airline ordered 50 Airbus A321XLR planes to interchange its ageing Boeing 757-200s, and stated that it’s going to begin to use the planes for worldwide service in 2024.

The Chicago-based airline plans to fly the jets, single-aisle planes with extra-long vary, to Europe from East Coast hubs Newark and Washington, it stated in a launch.

The service is the newest of a number of U.S. airways to go for the planes. JetBlue and American Airlines have each agreed to order a few of the long-range single-aisle planes that Airbus is growing.

The choice comes as Boeing is hobbled by the disaster surrounding its 737 Max planes after two crashes, stopping it from dedicating extra power to designing an all-new middle-market airplane.

Gas-efficiency and elevated vary are attractive airways to go for smaller planes on longer routes as they search to manage their working prices. United stated Tuesday that it is usually deferring orders of the bigger Airbus A350 planes.
