Sheila Oakes has admitted she “made a mistake”

A city’s mayor who made “deeply offensive remarks” about Boris Johnson has misplaced her job at a solicitors agency.

Sheila Oakes, who’s the mayor of Heanor in Derbyshire, made the feedback on Fb after the prime minister was admitted to intensive care.

The councillor – since suspended by Labour – mentioned he “utterly deserves this”. She has since apologised.

Her employer, VHS Fletchers Solicitors, mentioned she was “now not employed by this agency in any capability”.

Ms Oakes labored as a paralegal on the agency’s Ilkeston workplace.

Because of her feedback, the corporate mentioned it had turn out to be “embroiled in criticism”.

In a press release printed on its web site, VHS Fletchers Solicitors described her remarks as “deeply offensive” and mentioned her views have been “not shared by the companions or another members of employees”.

It added: “To want sickness upon anybody should be abhorrent to all proper considering members of the general public.”

Ms Oakes has accepted she “made a mistake” and on Tuesday she “apologised for upsetting individuals and saying it”.

The native Labour Social gathering has withdrawn the whip, and mentioned there can be an investigation into Ms Oakes’s conduct.
