The mayor of Greater Manchester said the city has a twinning arrangement with Wuhan, which was the epicentre of the Covid pandemic.
Andy Burnham told the Covid inquiry he leaned about coronavirus from the media and the Chinese community in Manchester.
He realised “just how serious it was” via community meetings in January and February 2020 when people were in a “very high state of alarm” ands asking him for help.
