Penny Mordaunt joked that she could be “sipping pina coladas” right now instead of declaring Liz Truss as her choice for prime minister over ex-chancellor Rishi Sunak.
The trade minister was speaking at the second Tory leadership hustings in Exeter.
She was knocked out of the leadership race after finishing third behind Mr Sunak and Ms Truss.
