Jeremy Hunt has told the BBC that he will not take any risks when it comes to tax cuts.
The Chancellor is due to unveil his Autumn Statement on Wednesday.
Speaking on Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, the Chancellor said he would not introduce any cuts that could fuel inflation.
It follows reports that Mr Hunt had been considering cutting inheritance and business taxes.
