    1. The latest inflation figures are due to be published at 07:00 by the Office for National Statistics
    2. The Consumer Prices Index measures how quickly prices are rising (or very occasionally falling) for goods and services
    3. Last month figures showed inflation was running at 4% in the year to January, the same as December’s rate
    4. Inflation peaked at 11.1% in October 2022 – the government pledged to halve the rate in 2023
    5. When the Bank of England is weighing up whether to raise or lower interest rates, inflation is a key consideration
    6. The target rate of inflation for the Bank is 2%
