Rory Stewart quits Mayor of London race

London mayoral candidate Rory Stewart has dropped out of the race after the coronavirus disaster pressured a 12 months’s delay.

The previous Tory cupboard minister stated it was unimaginable to ask unpaid marketing campaign volunteers to work for an additional 12 months.

The impartial candidate stated it had been an “agonising resolution” for him to make.

The announcement comes on the eve of what would have been polling day.

The previous MP for Penrith and The Border left parliament in October 2019 to run as an impartial candidate.

He had campaigned for the Conservative management final summer season.

However after Boris Johnson turned prime minister, Mr Stewart was certainly one of 21 Conservative MPs expelled from the occasion for rebelling over Brexit.
