Sir Mark Sedwill, the top of the Civil Service, has stated he discovered Sir Philip Rutnam’s resignation “regrettable”.
He stated didn’t consider further laws needs to be introduced ahead to make clear the relationships between ministers and the civil service, as “the overwhelming majority of instances are carried out professionally”.
He did admit within the civil service there could possibly be “tensions and difficulties”.
