Labour MP Chris Bryant offers a way forward after the government appears to step down over the regulation of MPs’ behaviour.
The standards committee chairman suggested MPs could get another chance to debate the case of Conservative MP Owen Paterson.
He said that would allow the government to separate this from any changes to the system over regulating MPs and lobbying.
