Air Canada executives to return bonuses after authorities help outcry


TORONTO, June 6 (Reuters)Prime executives at Air Canada AC.TO will return their bonuses and share awards, the provider mentioned on Sunday, in response to “public disappointment” over government compensation on the airline, which obtained authorities help in April.

Air Canada mentioned chief government, government vice presidents and its former chief government, who retired in February, would return the bonuses and share appreciation items “to be able to assist tackle this unintended consequence.”

The provider mentioned it gave out C$10 million in bonuses, including that a lot of it went to center managers.

In April, Air Canada, scuffling with a collapse in visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reached a deal on a long-awaited help bundle with the federal authorities that might enable it to entry as much as C$5.9 billion ($4.69 billion) in funds.
