Argentine corn crop estimate raised to 46 mln tonnes from 45 mln -exchange

Adds quote, context

BUENOS AIRES, April 15 (Reuters)Argentine farmers are anticipated to reap 46 million tonnes of corn within the 2020/21 season, the Buenos Aires Grains Alternate mentioned on Thursday, citing higher than anticipated yields as the explanation for rising its earlier 45 million tonne estimate.

Argentina is the world’s No. three corn exporter. Dry climate on the Pampas farm belt, which began in mid-2020 and lasted by means of February, had induced fear about crop efficiency. However March and April rains have eased these issues.

“Good expectations for late-planted corn enable us to extend the manufacturing projection by 1 million tonnes to 46 million tonnes,” the change mentioned in its weekly crop report.
