China removes risk of complete ban on U.S. poultry if fowl flu is discovered -industry group

CHICAGO, March 20 (Reuters)China has promised it is not going to impose a nationwide ban on imports of U.S. poultry if the USA finds circumstances of avian flu, an {industry} group mentioned, a coverage change that would assist Beijing fulfill commitments to purchase extra American farm items.

The settlement follows a Section 1 deal to finish a protracted commerce warfare between the world’s two largest economies and highlights China’s want for extra imported meat because it battles a deadly pig illness.

Beijing banned imports of U.S. poultry and eggs in January 2015 due to a U.S. outbreak of extremely pathogenic, or virulent, avian flu, closing a market value $500 million in 2013, in line with the U.S. Division of Agriculture.

China lifted the ban in November 2019 because the nations sought to finalize the deal to ease their commerce warfare, benefiting U.S. hen firms like Tyson Meals TSN.N and Pilgrim’s Delight PPC.O.
